Costa Rica: Central Pacific

Central and Southern Pacific

This area features a number of great beach destinations along with the crown jewel of Costa Rica’s National Parks, Manuel Antonio National Park.

This is a wetter region – the rainforest goes all the way to the beach in many areas. The drive from San José crosses the mountains and drops to the coast just one hour north of Manuel Antonio near Jaco Beach, where the surf is always up.

There are several very beautiful small upscale resorts in Manuel Antonio, and the nearby village of Quepos has great nightlife and marine charters. The ocean views along with the scenic green mountains of Uvita and Dominical in the Southern Pacific are some of the most gorgeous sights one can see in Costa Rica.

Typical activities in this region include whale and dolphin watching, surfing, fishing, rainforest canopy tours, and more.
