Costa Rica: Central Valley
Central Valley Hotels
The Alta Hotel, among the best of Costa Rica’s small boutique hotels, offers its guests a sublime combination of understated luxury, pampering services, and San Jose’s finest cuisine. The beautifully sculpted hotel cascades down Alto de Las Palomas (the Hill of the Doves), providing exquisite views of the volcanoes, mountains and valley that surround San Jose. The carved look melds different styles — Spanish-Moorish medieval, countryside elegant — into one graceful structure. The vaulted ceilings in the paseo and wide stone stairway lead castle-like from the reclusive guest rooms to the warm glow of La Luz Restaurant.
The rooms and suites are designed and handcrafted with filament lamps, black and white pictures of the 1920s life in Costa Rica’s rich European-inspired coffee culture. Furnished with Italian tobacco-colored artisan leather chairs and appointed fabrics. All rooms and grand suites include balconies and lush tropical gardens. The cool breeze of the mountains assure you a well rested dreaming night of sleep.
Well-appointed large room with charm featuring classical design and a collection of private black and white pictures of Costa Rica’s past. Two queen or king size bed with an airy spacious balcony with expansive views of the private garden. The colorful tropical Santa Ana sunsets are a gift.
A two-room suite with a bedroom featuring two queen or one king size bed with a large sitting room with a sofa that converts into a queen bed. There is a privacy door between the two rooms, a very spacious bathroom with shower and glass door separated bidet. This room can be combined with an adjacent Deluxe Room to create a compound for special occasions or for large families.
This is the Alta Hotel’s largest room. It features a balcony, a king size bed with cotton sheets and is located on the top floor of the hotel. This suite offers amazing views of the Valle de Santana, the mountains and volcanoes beyond. The sunsets are also magnificent. On a clear day, there is even a possibility of seeing the Pacific Ocean.
