El Remanso Lodge
Hidden in the rainforest above a secluded and wild Pacific Beach, El Remanso Lodge is situated on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, close to the famous Corcovado National Park. With its 185 acres of private reserve, it is part of the Osa Peninsula National Refuge. The owner-operated El Remanso Lodge offers a total of 13 spacious units between cabins and rooms, offering an overall capacity for up to 30 guests. This enhances the small-scale character of the lodge, enabling a highly personalized service for guests. The property includes an extensive trail system, which lets you discover the magic of a primary rainforest and observe the abundant wildlife surrounding the lodge. Explore secluded waterfalls, take a stroll on a deserted beach with tide pools and a lagoon or wander next to exciting small creeks deep in rainforest canyons.
A big variety of activities can be enjoyed at the El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge with their highly knowledgeable guides: thrilling waterfall rappelling, early-morning birdwatching, guided interpretative hikes, a canopy tree platform tour or simply relax on the wooden deck of your cabin while watching monkeys swing through the surrounding trees! Outside excursions are offered by local guides and include dolphin-watching in the Golfo Dulce, horseback rides through the rainforest and beach, surfing on the famous Matapalo breaks or hiking on a day tour in the Corcovado National Park.
Enjoy the peaceful rumbling of the ocean waves 350 feet below as you watch the sun paint the clouds and trees with all the tones of red and yellow, giving way to the dark night of the forest, unpolluted by city lights. Listen to the rustling of the leaves as the breeze dances through the forest and gently rocks your hammock while new and mysterious sounds tempt your imagination to decipher what is happening in the rainforest around you. Each one of the spacious accommodations offers excellent opportunities to observe wildlife at its best, combining absolute comfort with a tasteful rainforest style.
El Remanso has 3 private, spacious and comfortable one-bedroom cabins. On top of a cool clay-tile floor rises a structure made out of beautiful tropical hardwoods, all of which come from fallen timber taken out of our private nature reserve. The front side of the cabin has a full height sliding door and the other 3 sides have wooden louvered screened openings offering excellent air ventilation. Each cabin features a highly comfortable king size bed and can fit in 2 additional single beds.
A feeling of warmth is created by the use of hardwoods for the furniture inside the cabin. The hot-water shower is separated from the rest of the cabin by a beautifully shaped stucco wall and offers great views of the tropical garden around the cabins as well as views of both the ocean and the forest. Imagine yourself sitting on the porch or the outside wooden deck of your cabin and having a good chance to see wild monkeys climbing in the nearby trees and hear the orchestra of jungle sounds. Hammocks and comfortable terrace chairs offer perfect opportunities for relaxation after an active day in the rainforest. Have a set of binoculars in hand and you can spend hours watching bird and wildlife.
