Guanacaste National Park
Location: North Pacific
Created in 1989 to protect the Orosi and Cacao volcanoes and to restore some of the dry forest that was cut for cattle ranching, this park along with Santa Rosa National Park is important to many migrating animals, birds, and butterflies.
Size: 84,000 Hectares.
From San José: 5 hour drive from San José on mostly paved road or 45 minute flight to Liberia and 1 hour drive from the airport.
