Palo Verde National Park

Location: North Pacific

Palo Verde National Park protects a portion of the Tempisque lowlands, including fresh and saltwater marshes, deciduous, riparian, and evergreen forests, and mangrove swamps. The marshes are anextremely important to migrating waterfowl and wading birds. You can take boat tours on the Tempisque River for bird watching.

From San José: 4 hours paved road, 1½ hours dirt road.

Principle attractions: Seasonal marsh good for waterfowl, dry forest, rivers, and mangroves.
